Morning Announcements

Today is Friday, March 23 , 2018. It is an "F" day.

The Athletic Leadership council will meet at 12:30 in room 301 on Tuesday, March 27.

There will be a mandatory meeting of the French World Language Honor Society directly after school next Wednesday, March 28 in room 354.

Attention Juniors: If you are going to be requesting Senior Dismissal privilege for the 2018-2019 school year you have to pick up a parent permission form in the School Counseling office. The deadline to submit the permission form to your school counselor is April 2, 2018.

March is Women's History Month: Given the title “First Lady of the Blues” Billie Holiday was widely considered to be the greatest and most expressive jazz singer of all time. Her voice was moving in its emotional intensity and poignancy. Despite dying at the age of only 44, Billie Holiday helped define the jazz era and her recordings are still widely sold today.

To celebrate Women's History Month, the Activists for Gender Equality are hosting a movie night on Monday March 26th at 6pm in room 301. The event is free but donations are welcomed (donations will be donated to Chrysalis, a women's shelter in Meriden).

World Language Week continues:

Mastering two or more languages helps people solve logic problems and handle multi-tasking, skills that are often considered part of the brain’s so-called executive function. Start learning a language today!

When you think of olive oil, you probably think of Italy. In reality, Spain produces 45% of all olive oil in the world! With 410 million native speakers, Spanish is the second most popular language in the world. Real Madrid, the Spanish football club based out of Madrid, is the most valuable sports team in the world.

Scavenger hunt item: Take a 15-20 second video with a friend who takes a different language than you do, teaching you how to say something.

Attention creative writers! The Writers' Club will soon be publishing its annual online Literary Magazine and is looking for entries from SHS students! Submissions must be less than 2 pages and emailed to no later than April 6th.
