Kindergarten Registration Information

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION INFORMATION 

Pre-Registration for 2026-2027 will begin on March 9, 2026.  Please plan to attend our Kindergarten Parent Information Session at Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School at 5:30 to pre-register your child.  Presentation begins at 6:00 PM.

In accordance with state law, Southington Public Schools are open to all children five years of age and over who reach age five on or before September 1 of any school year.  Any questions should be directed to your child's school office.

Part I - Pre-Registration - Using the link below, begin the Kindergarten registration process.

Kindergarten Registration

Once reviewed by the Registration office, you will receive an email from SPS PowerSchool with further information and instructions to complete the required registration forms.

Part II -Registration Forms/Required Documents -  Complete the registration forms and upload required documents using the instructions sent to you via the above mentioned email from SPS PowerSchool. 

 

A child who has not reached the age of five on or before September 1st of the school year may be admitted to kindergarten only (1) upon written request by the parent or guardian of the child to the principal of the school in which the child would be enrolled based on District residency requirements, and (2) following an assessment of the child, conducted by an appropriate certified staff member of the district, to ensure that admitting the child is developmentally appropriate ("Early Admission Process").  The Early Admission Process shall be available only for a child who will reach the age of five on or after September 2 and before January 1 of the school year.

• All written requests must be received by December 31st of the year prior.
• Screenings will occur in January.
• Students can only be screened ONCE.
• Any questions should be directed to your child's school office.

Please Note:  An individual screener may be scheduled for a student of a new resident of Southington if residency occurs after January.  Please contact District Registrar at 860-628-3204.
