Course Opportunities

All classes run Monday through Friday with the exception of week 1 that will not meet on Tuesday due to the July 4th holiday.

2023 Courses Offered:
- SAT Math: As the student works through the course, they will focus on learning more about their strengths and weaknesses in all domains specific to the mathematics portion of the SAT. At the start of the course the student will be able to identify individual weaknesses in the areas of algebra, geometry, data analysis and problem solving, and immediately begin working through challenging problem sets to develop their capacity in these areas. The instructor will then provide personalized instruction and develop a growth plan for each student. In doing so, students will develop the necessary skills in order to be well prepared to take the SAT and develop test-taking strategies. Will potentially run in Session 1 or Session 2. Cost of Course: $230 ($30 discount if enrolling in both Math and Verbal)
- SAT Verbal/Writing: As the student works through the course, they will focus on learning more about their strengths and weaknesses as well as learn test-taking strategies that are specific to the SAT. At the start of the course the student, with teacher guidance, will identify individual weaknesses in the areas of reading comprehension and writing skills. The instructor will provide personalized instruction and develop a growth plan for each student. In doing so, students will develop the necessary skills in order to be well prepared to take the SAT. Will potentially run in Session 1 or Session 2. Cost of Course: $230 ($30 discount if enrolling in both Math and Verbal)
- Coding with App Inventor: This course is intended for students entering grades 10-12 and are interested in designing apps/games with App Inventor. Some experience with programming would be helpful but isn’t required. These apps can be run on any personal Samsung/Apple device and there is a classroom set of tablets for anyone that needs to use one. Apps will incorporate many elements of these devices, such as the touchscreen, camera, gyroscope, and more. Will potentially run in Session 2 or Session 3. Cost of Course: $140
- Preparing Your College Essay and Resume: This 5-day course is strictly for students entering their senior year in the fall of 2022. The focus of the course is giving students individualized help with their college application process. Specialized attention will be given to choosing, writing, and workshopping students’ college essays. In addition, help will be given if needed for supplemental or scholarship essays. Students will be guided to create an attractive resume for college, as well as begin their Common App. Will only run in Session 2 or Session 3. Cost of Course: $150

- Complete our Enrichment Interest Survey to tentatively reserve a spot in the course(s) you wish to enroll.
- Complete and submit our Summer Enrichment Programming Enrollment form and submit payment to the SHS Main Office by June 9th.
