Attention All Students

  • Attention all students interested in joining the JAD Color Guard: There will be an informational meeting today during Core in the band room.  Please come to this meeting if you are interested in learning how to spin a flag to perform with the band at the Memorial Day Parade.  All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcome.
  • The 2024 YMCA Sloper Plunge is only a week away!  This year we have a big team of 17 jumpers! Starting next week, we will be going into the cafeteria all three days during lunch waves for students to vote for their favorite plunger! Also, next Friday will be hat day for students and staff! Make sure you vote for your favorite plunger next week!

Attention 8th Grade Students

You are encouraged to review Mrs. O'Neill's canvas page regularly for information pertaining to 8th grade programs and activities.

CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half-Day Program 

  • Provides high school students from the Capitol region and beyond with rigorous training in the arts. Students choose a major from six different arts disciplines: Dance, Music (instrumental or vocal), Musical Theater, Theater, Design & Theatre Production, and Visual Arts. All classes are taught by professional Artist-Instructors.
  • Shadow your favorite Arts Discipline at Arts Academy Half day on Wednesday, February 28th

Upcoming SHS Events for Incoming 9th Grade Students

  • February 16 - 23 SHS Course Selection
    • During this timeframe, parents/guardians must log into their PowerSchool Parent Portal to access and select courses.  Directions for selecting courses will be included in the Parent Portal.
  • SHS Club and Activities Fair
    • Wednesday, April 3rd at 6:00 pm

JAD Clubs & Activities

  • ART CLUB
    • The first meeting of the DePaolo Art Club will take place in the cafeteria today after dismissal.  This club is open for all students who enjoy art.  Students will have the opportunity to sketch, draw, color, and create their own works of art, while making new friends. Please see Ms. Swist if you have any questions.  Please have a ride available for 3:30pm.
  • CHESS CLUB
    • Would you like to play Chess? Join the Chess Club in Room 216 on Wednesday 2/21 from 2:45 to 3:45 where you can learn to play and then compete against an opponent! Please sign up in room 216 prior to the meeting.
  • WRITING CLUB
    • Will meet on Wednesday 2/21 in the library. Please have your rides ready for 3:30pm.
  • JAZZ BAND
    • Will rehearse Thursday 2/22. Please have your rides ready for 4pm.
