The Family Resource Center of Southington (FRCS) is a partnership between the Southington Public Schools, community and families. Our mission is to help children build a strong foundation for learning by providing a nurturing environment that enhances all areas of development. We value supporting the whole family. Parent Educators will provide guidance for adults and children through modeling, educational reading materials, and resources to help the needs of our families.
The FRCS offers a variety of free programs to Southington families.
Play and Learn Programs
Children ages birth to 5 are welcome to attend with a parent, grandparent, childcare provider or other responsible adult. The mixed age group provides children with many learning opportunities to build their language development, social interactions and cognitive experiences. Play and Learn Classes offer: free choice time, story time, snack, craft, and songs. Parents have opportunities to play with their children and to interact with other families in the community.
Specialty Classes
Preschool age children are welcome to attend with an adult to explore a variety of topics that support early literacy and build school readiness skills through hands on experiences.
Programs are offered 4 sessions a year (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer). Registration for programs is on-going.
The FRCS works in collaboration with the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington (ECCS) to support the growth, development and academic success of young children in Southington.
