GED Test Preparation Program

The GED® Program offers preparation to improve academic skills so an individual can pass all four sections of the State GED® test. The sections include: Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science and Social Studies. Instruction is focused on individual students learning needs and assessments are given to provide student feedback.

All students are pre-assessed in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Evening courses are then offered for English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science. As a student progresses through the program assessments are provided to analyze progress.

The computer lab is available to all students registered in GED Preparation Classes.

Testing Information

GED® State Testing Information

Eligibility:

Applicants for the test must be 17 years of age or older and no longer in school. Applicants 17 & 18 years of age must submit documentation that they have been withdrawn from high school for at least six months or that their 9th grade class has graduated in order to take the test.

*Students 17-19 must also present documentation of withdrawal from high school in order to enroll in GED® classes. Bring your documentation with you when you register for classes.

The test is offered in English and Spanish
The test is computer based (not online) and it offers same day scoring
Paper testing is only available as an accommodation
There are three oportunities per year, per content area
There are seven different item types throughout the test

- Multiple choice
- Short answer

Fees:

For applicants over the age of 21 there is a $13.00 fee to take the GED® tests. For veterans and applicants under the age of 21 there is no fee. To retake or reapply for the test there is a $13.00 fee.

GED® Testing:

Tests are at various locations. Applicants must register at Adult Education.
