Digital Learning at SPS - Vision

At Southington Public Schools, we are dedicated to providing grade appropriate and seamless technology integration in every classroom, which will support innovative teaching practices, create enhanced learning environments, and will prepare our students to be contributing members of a digital society.

Commitment to Blended Learning

Technology allows all students to deepen learning and achieve the goals set in the vision of the graduate through:

  • Access to learning materials outside of the classroom.

  • Access to learning opportunities that would not be available in the classroom.

  • Learning to use technology responsibly and productively.

  • Choices to demonstrate learning.

Student Data Privacy

Our teachers and staff provide enhanced and blended learning opportunities through the use of digital media. However, we work to protect student identities, work, and digital footprints as the use of technology grows in our classrooms.

21st Century Skills

We are beginning a district-wide conversation around the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration). If these skills are integrated into the curriculum, students will not only be better prepared citizens, but their achievement on the academic standards will also improve. Although technology is not specifically outlined or required for these skills, access to technology improves efficiency and performance in all of these areas.
