Definition of Student Success Plan (SSP)

The Student Success Plan (SSP) is an individualized student driven plan that will be developed to address every student's needs and interests to help students stay connected in school and to achieve post secondary educational and career goals. The SSP will begin in the sixth grade and continue through high school to provide students support and assistance in setting goals for social, emotional, physical and academic growth, meeting the rigorous high school expectations, and exploring postsecondary education and career interests.

Advisory Program

Advisory is a formal, ongoing program through which each student has an adult in the school, in addition to the school counselor, who knows the student well and assists the student in achieving the school's 21st century learning expectations. The school community consciously and continuously builds a safe, positive, respectful, and supportive culture, that fosters student responsibility for learning and results in shared ownership, pride and high expectations for all.

Examples of Advisory Topics: confilict resolution, time management, goal setting, career exploration, learning styles, bullying, internet safety

Examples of Grade Level Activities: introduction to S.T.E.P.S., finding positive adult role models within the Southington community, planning and decision making

Student Reflection: Students will have the opportunity to answer questions and/or journal write on Advisory through Naviance
