*IMPORTANT * All parents/guardians of 8th grade students must have access to the Powerschool Parent Portal. This program will need to be accessed from a computer for upcoming Southington High School Course Registration. Please contact Ms. Walsh at (860) 628-3275 if you need Powerschool login information.
Students who do not plan to attend SHS still need to register for courses at SHS.
All 8th grade parents/guardians are invited to attend Basics 101: An Evening for Middle School Families to Learn About High School. This presentation will be combined with JAD parents in the auditorium. This program will be presented by the
9th Grade Academy Presentation
SHS Counselors will visit all 8th grade Science classrooms during the school day. The SHS Counselors will give an introduction to the 9th Grade Academy, electives, and an overview of expectations as a SHS student.
SHS Course Fair
Southington High School Course Fair will be held at SHS. Parents and students may visit the cafeteria for information pertaining to specific courses offered. Staff will be available to answer questions. There will also be an opportunity to tour the Technology and Engineering program classrooms. Don't miss this great opportunity!
Agricultural Science Program
The Ag-Science program offers:
- Vet Technician
- Companion Animal Service Industry
- Landscape Design
- Floral Design
- Greenhouse Management
- Shop Skills
- Wildlife and Exotic Pets including Aqua Culture and Natural Resources
All 8th graders will see a presentation on Southington High School's Agricultural Science program. Applications will be available in the School Counseling Office following the presentations. Applications are due to the School Counseling Office by December 5, 2016.
Project Lead the Way Assembly (PLTW)
All 8th grade students will attend a presentation about PLTW, a high school engineering program at SHS. Following the presentation, all female 8th graders will attend a presentation on "Women in Engineering".
PLTW applications are online and must be submitted to Mrs. Dickson by January 19, 2017. Applications can be downloaded at: http://www.southingtonschools.org/page.cfm?p=10616
Level Recommendations- IMPORTANT INFO!!
***All academic teachers will make level recommendations for grade nine during the end of January. Parents and students will have an opportunity to review level recommendations beginning February 6th. Registration for courses will be completed online. Students will be given important instructions and information about online registration on Friday, February 3rd. You can begin accessing the Parent Portal on Powerschool on Monday, February 6th to register for classes at SHS.

Student Life/Activity Fair
On May 22nd at SHS all 8th grade students and parents will have an opportunity to explore and learn more about sport programs, activities, and clubs that are offered at SHS.
Grade 9 Orientation at SHS
TBD All Incoming 9th Grade Students are invited to an Orientation at Southington High School. This event will include visits to SHS, schedules will be distributed and tours will be offered. Please contact SHS for more information.
