Welcome to Mrs. McHenry's Art Class

The Middle School art program is exploratory, focusing on 21st Century Skills which includes stressing both the process and the end product. The unique characteristics of the adolescent includes a wide variety of skill levels and a highly emotional, self centered personality. The art instruction is organized and presented for the developmental appropriateness of the middle school student, including the special needs child. The work of each student is evaluated according to his/her own skills and abilities by the teacher using rubrics. In order to permit smooth operation of a less structured art classroom, effort and cooperative behavior on behalf of the students are necessary components.
