Welcome to the

ORANGE TEAM WEBSITE

----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to the Orange Team! We are excited to begin a new school year with your child and are looking forward to a positive and productive experience. Our team provides a student-centered approach to learning that focuses on your child’s individual development. For maximum success we work as a team: the student, parents, and teachers sharing responsibility. This collaborative setting enables the development of self-esteem, mutual respect, responsible citizenship, and learner independence.

Communication is extremely important between home and school. As the year begins, we encourage you to provide us with your email address so that we can contact and update you throughout the year. You can reach all Orange Team teachers via the www.southingtonschools.org website where our emails are posted. Please feel free to contact us at anytime concerning your son or daughter.

In an effort to involve parents and make student learning more relevant, we ask that you become regularly engaged in your child’s learning. Talk to your children about the school day, and check the homework hotline to be sure they have completed their assignments. This will prepare them for a successful school experience!

As a reminder, your child has a summer reading and mathematics assignment that will be due within the first few days of school. Also, be on the lookout for Open House this fall. We look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Boudreau, Language Arts (Team Leader)

Ms. Flanagan, Learning Specialist

Mr. Young, Science

Mrs. Moreau, US History

Ms. Ratliff, Mathematics

Differentiation

All teachers strive to meet student's individual needs as they arise. In education this is referred to as differentiation. This can occur daily during instruction or assessments. If a differentiated assessment for regular education students is occuring in any content area it will be indicated here.

***None at this time

If you have any questions please contact the teacher indicating the differentiated assessment directly.

***Please note that assessments for students with IEP's, 504 plans, or in an EIP process are differentiated as prescribed by those respective plans and it is the expectation that parents of those students affected by this have already been notified and are in agreement with the arrangement.
