The entire staff at Thalberg Elementary School would like to welcome all of our parents and students to our website! We are very proud of our school and we use this platform to showcase some of the talents, successes and events from our students and staff.
Through this website you will get to know our "neighborhood school". The staff regularly updates their classroom website as well as including useful information. In our attempts to "Go Green" we hope you will find the website a helpful tool for our home/school communication.
We take great pride in providing individual attention to our students' needs. This caring attitude is reflected in our Quality Plus Mission Statement:
"We are committed to continual improvement of our school's community through the creation of an environment that fosters high self-esteem and excellence through the promotion of mutual cooperation, trust and confidence."
Our school motto is “Where Children Soar and Dreams take Flight!” Our staff works to meet the children's wide range of abilities by implementing effective programs through differentiation, thus meeting the needs of all students. We create success utilizing early intervention and inclusion philosophy. Our Language Arts and and Mathematics Curriculum is assessment driven and is based on state standards. Science, Social Studies, Health, Library Skills, Music, Art and Physical Education complete our instructional program. In addition to the academics, we provide enrichment opportunities through numerous clubs and activities. We are proud of the technology rich environment with personalized learning. Our students are encouraged to create. Our Maker Spaces and project based learning opportunities allow our students to remove learning boundaries.
We believe that learning is a lifelong mission and we are all active learners and guides. Our goal is student achievement! It is our greatest hope that your child is able to experience joyful learning each day. Thank you for all you do to help our children reach their full potential. Our motto continues; Thalberg School "Where children soar and dreams take flight"
Thalberg School is proud of its connection and commitment to the community. The highly qualified and dedicated staff members provide a world-class education to the children that walk through our doors each day. The Thalberg staff's top priority is student achievement. All members of the staff work to ensure quality instruction is being delivered to the students of Thalberg Elementary School. We are proud of our accomplishments and even prouder of our children.
It is important to provide the students with a safe environment so they can remain focused on their academics. In order to maintain the level of safety and security in the building, we do ask all visitors to stop in the main office. Visitors will be permitted to the classroom with a scheduled appointment with the classroom teacher.
Parents are the foundation to a child's education. The home connection allows the staff to better support your child's education. The more information you can provide us about your child, the more we are able to meet the learning needs with appropriate actions. Each child at Thalberg is a success story. We look forward to writing the story together with you. You can assist your child by volunteering for field trips, class activities, reading to children, art projects, typing, helping on the computer or simply contact your child's teacher to see how you can help.
The PTO is devoted to improving our school. The Thalberg PTO has been instrumental in fund raising and has contributed to our classroom environments through the purchase of technology and supplies for our children at Thalberg. This year our PTO is focusing on improving the playground equipment for our children. We want to make recess fun, social and healthy.
Thalberg School has embraced the new Common Core State Standards. Students are now being provided with learning opportunities that challenge their thinking and develop strong habits of mind. The link below is to the Common Core State Standards for parents as we remain partners in your child's education:
The Connecticut State Department of Education created a document for parent information regarding the Common Core. The information provided is helpful for you to support your child during the curriculum and testing changes to support the Common Core.
