We’ve got some good news! We have decided to host a talent show here at Derynoski (currently open to 5th graders). We will be holding auditions on Monday, April 5th and Wednesday, April 7th immediately after school. The Talent Show will be held on May 17th at 1:45 and 6:30. Please check your spring sports schedule to be sure that you can commit to the show as all acts must be able to attend the evening performance. If your act is chosen for the talent show, we expect that this will be your first priority over any other activities that may arise.
If you are interested in auditioning for an act in the talent show, please fill out the permission slip form and return it to the school office by Friday, March 12th. Click here if you have lost your permission slip. No permission slips will be accepted after this date. Bring your music or equipment with you on the day of your audition. We have a cd player here. You can audition for group numbers or solos. Your act should be approximately 2 minutes long. Some ideas include musical instruments, singing acts, dancing, gymnastics, karate, baton twirling, magic tricks, comedy, juggling, etc… We would love to have different acts, so be creative. If you are singing, you MUST have the music without the lyrics, you cannot sing along with the singer because then we cannot tell if you will be strong enough on your own. There are websites where you can purchase songs without lyrics such as musicalcreations.com. Please note that not all acts will make the show. We have had a great deal of interest so far and need to keep the show around one hour in length. Also, you must come prepared to the audition. You do not have to have your entire number finished, but a portion of it must be complete and ready to be performed at the audition. We have the right to not accept music, costumes, or dance moves that we feel are inappropriate.
We are striving for this to be a fun and exciting opportunity for as many students as possible. Please note that the majority of your rehearsal time will need to be done outside of school, and you must take this practice time seriously. We will have a few rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the show, which is tentatively scheduled for May 17. If you are not prepared at these rehearsals, your number may need to be cut from the show. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Mrs. Lombardi before or after school.
Participation in this show is a privilege and any discipline issues will not be tolerated. Students will not be allowed to participate should any discipline issues occur. We are asking that while waiting to audition, all students will be respectful to those students who are auditioning at the time.
We have decided to have “closed auditions” to ensure privacy and comfort level of the students and ask all parents to wait outside of the auditorium in the lobby until the students are dismissed. Please plan to be here by 4:15 to pick up your child.
